The Factors Related To Sexual Behaviour of High Schoool Female Students in The City of
Karawang, year 2004.
ABSRACT
Sexual behaviour in this study refer to sexual activities conducted by adolescents such as
touching, kissing, petting and sexual intercourse. Among those sexual activities, some
might put the adolescents to the riska of reproduction health problem. According to the
report of BKKBN of West Java Province in 2002, every year there were approximately 15
millions of 15 - 19 year old teenagers gave birth, 4 millions of them were having abortion
and almost 100 millions were infected by curable sexual diseases. The health risks were
influenced by various factors, either predisposing factors, enabling factors and reinfoircing
factors of the risky sexual behavior.
This research wanted to know the detail about factors related to adolescent's sexual
behavior of High School student in the city of Karawang in 2004 according to the three
factors, using cross sectional study design. That is, by observing and measuring all
independent variables investigated and at the same time, dependent variables. This study
was carried out in May - June 2004.
Hypothesis of this study has been the relationship between predisposing/ facilitating factors
(experience of reading/ watching sensual object from printed media, sexual experience
from electronic media such as radio, television, video and internet as well as the
knowledge about reproduction health), enabling/ supporting factors (access to sensual
information sources such as newspaper, magazine, porn books, prostitution, dimly lit food
stall and the culture of dombret), reinforcing/ promoting factors (parents educational level,
rule application and the chances to communicate sexual problem in the family as well as
the adolescents activity at school) with adolescents risky sexual behavior.
Analysis were performed by SPSS program consisting of univariate analysis to know the
distribution of each independent and dependent variables, bivariate analysis with chi-square
test were conducted to find out the relationship between independent and dependent
variables, and multivariate analysis by logistic regression to find out dominant factors
related to the adolescents risky sexual behavior.
Result of this study showed that the related factors to the sexual behavior of High School
students in the city of Karawang were the sexual experience from printed media,
sensual experience from electonic media such as radio, television , VCD, internet
